The studio quietly introduced a new branded channel on the popular video site this week, with dozens of clips from its library linked to DVD and download-to-own film opportunities. The site is an outgrowth of an ad revenue deal signed by Lionsgate and YouTube's Google parent in July.

In what could have been a sequel to one of his own smash television shows, Ashton Kutcher played celebrity-geek this week as he launched an irreverent gossip website for girls. Katalyst Media partners Kutcher and Jason Goldberg made a pilgrimage from Hollywood to debut the Blah Girls at a TechCrunch50 gathering of promising technology startup firms in northern California.

HBOlab, an experimental offshoot of the cable powerhouse focused on online programming, is launching a Web video series featuring a cast of the Internet's most popular entertainers.
MTV did try to save money this year by having the VMA's @ the Paramount Pictures lot in L.A. This way there is no hall rental fee and no flying stars to another coast. Which (hopefully) gave them extra money for other things which everyone seems to hope is a "surprise" performance by Britney.

Berkeley, Calif.-based Popcuts, which publicly launched its Web site in early August, charges users 99 cents per song. Thereafter, whenever someone else buys the same song, those who have already bought it get paid in credit that can be redeemed for more Popcuts music. The earlier you buy a song, the larger your cut of future sales.
